Humorous and warm-hearted
stories exposing the funny side of life in a very serious profession
Incidents and experiences from a 35 year
career with the NHS Ambulance Service
You wouldn’t believe what can happen when you
“CALL
AN AMBULANCE”
Tales designed for your
entertainment
People talk and write about most professions.
However, the NHS Ambulance Service has been sadly neglected.
This is now put right by my light hearted
tales of situations experienced by an operational ambulanceman
l provide funny, relaxing and clean
entertainment to any luncheon or after dinner function. Giving unique
presentations relating to my operational ambulance career, experiences still faced
daily by emergency crews responding to crisis calls from the public. Hands
on experience allows me to
skillfully guide an audience through the confusion and trauma of road and
industrial accidents, childbirth, mistaken identity and many others
situations. Even the taboo subject of death can produce unexpected twists.
Every tale is related with gentle humour and total respect to patient
confidentiality.
Retiring
after a 35 year career with five NHS Ambulance Authorities, I give an
entertaining insight into every aspect of the Ambulance Service in rural,
urban, coastal and industrial locations - operational duties, Control, station
management, recruiting, training, major incident planning and procedures - all roles
requiring a close working relationship, at all levels, with the other emergency
services, industry and local authorities. My wide experience provides the
background to a fund of polished stories giving a humorous and enjoyable
glimpse into situations witnessed by very few - unique tales from a
speaker suitable for every occasion.
Recently, I have added an additional subject
- The Simple Soldier, an insight into
army life in the 1950s, naturally
presented in a similar light hearted style.
My rates are very reasonable and, I am frequently told provide
excellent value for money, my fees and expenses
comparing favourably with other speakers, this is
confirmed by many repeat bookings.
When distance requires an overnight stay, accommodation with an
organiser, as opposed to an hotel, is perfectly
acceptable.
I prefer to restrict my area to the Midlands and North of England but can
make longer journeys. Enquiries, without obligation, are welcome.
I have two
books
of ambulance short stories and one covering my army years, each guaranteed to raise a smile.
